Love Matters

I stopped writing on this blog in June, 2017. I’m not sure why I stopped, but, I do know I was tired of the lies, and the hate, and I feared the path our Country was starting to travel.

So here we are – it’s February, 2019 and the lies continue, the hate is palpable, and the path we travel as a nation is more divided than ever.

And yes, I’m still tired of it all.

The 2020 Presidential Election is 617 days away. 617 days, and I’m already turning off the television, deleting pages, and blocking people on Facebook, and I’m struggling to keep my blood pressure in check. Again – it’s 617 days away!

I think more than anything; I’m scared.

A new great grandson has arrived into my life and captured my heart. Another is coming in April, and has already taken a piece of my heart. I’m scared what it is we will leave them. What sort of world will they have to raise their families and the families of their children?

We’ve polluted the water, and the air. We’re melting the ice, we’re cutting down the forests, and we’re building walls.

The rich are getting richer, the middle-class is disappearing, and the poor – well the poor are forgotten.

Women are losing the ability to make decisions about their own bodies, LGBTQ citizens are still fighting just for the right to exist, people of color are still dealing with discrimination, and all the while the man in the white house says he’s making america great again.

I fear what unrelenting greatness he will reap upon us before he goes into the dark night.

I’m scared, but silence is not the answer.

The Environment matters.

People matter.

Your voice matters.

Love matters…
